Larger Than Life

I know, too much a good thing...
but, IT'S AN HERMES KELLY BAG!
HermesSelfridges" have teamed up on a unique - & extremely cool! - interactive experience which showcases what life would be like inside a beige toile & tan leather Kelly bag. Thanks to video technology and special effects, the fully immersive and multisensory exhibit lets you walk inside a 4 meter high replica of the world's original "it" bag and feel positively dwarfed...as if you were but one of the enormous owner's accessories about to be picked up and used."

"Three one-minute films portray the lady owner dancing with a gentleman, bicycling on a picnic, and playing on a swing (and who wouldn't love to be tucked inside the bag of a woman who carries her Kelly to dine al fresco or go swinging?). "The augmented reality of the Kellydoscope makes the viewer inside the bag feel all the movements related to each experience," they explain about this modern look at the iconic bag first created back in the 1930s and famed for being actress Grace Kelly's favorite fashion arm candy.
"The Kellydoscope, which took over five months to develop and build, is also the most startling opportunity to admire the exacting craftsmanship involved in the manufacturing of a Kelly as Hermes - the epitome of luxury accessories - has ensured that every detail of the regular-sized Kelly is faithfully reproduced in the Kellydoscope version, but fifteen times bigger."
AND JUST IN CASE YOU FORGOT...
"The iconic bag was created by Robert Dumas in the 1930s and its structure and timelessly unadorned lines broke with the ornate fashions that were so popular at the time when a large-model croc version appeared in a magazine photo in 1956 on the arm of Grace Kelly, it was rumored she was using it to hide a burgeoning baby bump."  via Fashion Tribes

Satchel Bag

VINTAGE SATCHEL BY LUELLA
Isn't this a cool satchel?
I do love a satchel bag- besides important papers
or briefs (aka magazines)-
roomy enough
to throw in a quick purchase
or small lunch.
The colors of this one,
auburgine and tan have a perfect
classic and yet modern feel.
The touch of whimsy that Luella adds with
the oversize details, is well,
genius, right?

Tiffany's In The Bag

The partnership between Tiffany and former
duo behind  Lambertson Truex
was destined to be brilliant.
It is at once, elegant, modern , yet classic.
"While the designs master the combination of modern elegance with a timeless appeal, the finishing touches infuse classic Tiffany touches. These finishes include custom-designed hardware, Tiffany Blue leather interiors, and Tiffany Blue enamel."

“The collection captures the spirit of American sportswear and its exuberant approach to life in town, in the country and from coast to coast,” says Richard Lambertson. “We also find great inspiration in Tiffany’s timeless style and its heritage of refined accessories.” Referring to the duo’s design process, John Truex says that “we might start with a particular color or silhouette and then draw from Tiffany’s world of beauty and sophistication to make a new design. The result is something unique, yet unmistakably Tiffany.”
From day bags to evening bags, from leather to exotic skins
this collection is graceful from start to finish.

What is in Her Bag?

OK, truth is advertising: my ideal platform
for this blog would be sort of like this interview, but,
less about the handbag, accessories and
                                                                more about
the 'found contents' inside, the window.
Don't you think it's kind of fascinating
the things we stash, drop in and forget?
I really do believe, that handbags
are the mirrors of our lives.
I want to know, what was happening this day,
I want to see evidence of  life-errands, receipts..
.the loose ends of life.
At least, for now, we can indulge ourselves
with a peek into  the bag
and (stylized) contents of Monica Botkier...
below and above.
