Fendi DIY... Really?

FENDI DIY BAGUETTE BAG

The Fendi DIY Baguette Bag is exactly what it sounds like – it’s a woven, unfinished Fendi Baguette with everything you need to embroider your own bag. It’s sort of an opportunity to have your own one-of-a-kind designer bag, which is kind of cool, when you think of it that way.
Master the art of self-expression with Fendi's wonderfully innovative take on their iconic Baguette. This DIY embroidery kit and sheer natural woven raffia shoulder bag are beautifully presented with multicolored threads, thimbles and needles and is the perfect way to display your creative flair.

Really?

Our Lord and Saviour

Formerly of Hunting Season, Jason Salstein has a new line
called Our Lord and Saviour and this is a church I can follow.
Featuring high quality leathers in neutral tones, with eye catching details like the
silver crucifixtion of Jesus Christ on the front.
They are pricey-$3265 for the python and $8695 for the crocodile, ouch.
In a recent interview at The Purse Blog he defended his designs
"I wanted to create a brand that already had a legacy and a history built in. I wanted to bring back emotion and couture qualities in the handbag market. Everything is handmade with Our Lord & Saviour.
The crucifix was not for shock value at all, but rather an introduction of the sacred Gothic aesthetic I want to convey. It just happens to be the subject that receives a lot of attention and moves me the most and others as well. I am sure that Catholics are not the only individuals that venture to Italy and visit the Sistine Chapel or Vatican. People ooh and awe at the paintings, frescoes, Michelangelo’s marble Madonna etc.
I look at the clutch as a true work of art, every detail has been thought out from the inscription on the scroll, to the crown of thorns, and nails in the hands and feet. I want to create bags that have the same effect as true masters!"
Clearly this is not going to appeal to everyone
 that's fine by me.

Pocket Project

Just came across this post on
For some reason, I have a picture from two years ago displaying the contents of my pockets. It was tucked away in a random folder on my laptop. The photo is from July 8, 2008. I’m certain I took this photo with some specific purpose in mind. However, that purpose is unclear to me at this time. In the spirit of not letting this riveting scrap of history go to waste, I’ve created a (quite) remedial infographic.
1. Pilot Precision Rolling Ball V5 (Extra Fine). This is the only pen I use. Others have come and gone, but this guy is a keeper. I love the weight of its line when the ink is half empty. It would be cool to score an endorsement deal with Pilot.
2. Keys to my Honda Civic Hybrid (a terribly boring car that gets great gas mileage); security faub from former employer; carabiner that has long since been discarded.
3. My former corporate cell phone (Samsung Blackjack). When they took my job, they took my phone.
4. Slim and empty wallet. This model has since been replaced with a slimmer wallet that holds almost nothing and is virtually useless.
5. Sony ICD-MX20 Digital Voice Recorder. I used this for countless interviews, both over the phone and in-person.
You're welcome.
Cheers!

Tattoos at Bergdorf Goodman?

When tattoos and handbags come together, the results are usually Ed-Hardy-disastrous. But, designer Carlos Falchi is changing our perception tomorrow with a special appearance at our fave uptown destination, Bergdorf Goodman. The handbag man and his daughter Kate are showing us how he created his rockin' collection of hand-painted Tigersnake fall '10 purse collection inspired by Henna tattoos. The seven-piece offering has clutches that channel India and are constructed with some asymmetrical shapes. Stop by to meet the man behind the goods, and score some inspiration for your own body art. Our suggestion? Go for the temporary kind. Unlike a bag, you can't stop wearing tats when they go out of style.

Friday, April 16th, 1-5p.m., Bergdorf Goodman

Sharp Style

Lovin it!
"I love small monster, Tokyo Love"
Some people are up in arms...
'how could she do that to an icon...'
whether it's authentic or from Canal Street,
I don't care, I think it's clever and creative.
Cheers!

Whatever, right?

Perfect Bag Alert

Pre Fall Eye Candy
Yes, it may be a bit structured for
Stop n Shop in the summer but there is
no denying this is a perfect  (city) bag.
MaxMara is known more for its refined elegance than conspicuous consumption, so it's no surprise the Italian brand's hallmark fall bag follows suit in that understated spirit. The Margaux tote, recently unveiled during Paris Fashion Week at Max Mara's revamped Paris boutique, was designed with utility and function in mind.  Available in a classic color palette ranging from black and tan to red and violet (the lining boasts the Max Mara logo), it's the quintessential hold-all for all occasions. For those whose needs don't require a  carry-all, a smaller version is also available.
The Margaux large is $1,065 & the medium is $1,045; available at Max Mara boutiques.
